Manager, Art Guides
Kristie Nilsson began her career with an internship at the studio of photographer and photojournalist Eddie Adams, best known for his Pulitzer prize–winning 1968 photograph of the execution of a Viet Cong soldier. In addition to working as Adam’s assistant, she managed his archive and the syndication of his photographs.
Following stints as manager for a number of other photo studios, Nilsson was hired by Photo District News, a trade publication for professional photographers. During her 12 years with the magazine, she planned events such as PDN’s PhotoPlus Expo and the PDN Photo Annual before moving into a sales and marketing role. As an account executive and membership manager, she focused on PDN’s photography guides and promoted the work of a global network of professional photographers for PDN’s PhotoServe and the Independent Photography Network.
After leaving PDN, Nilsson spent several years fundraising for the International Center of Photography and Hudson Riverkeeper, organizations with missions that are close to her heart. She was hired by Art in America in 2017 as an account manager for the Art in America Guide to Museums, Galleries and Artists. She is inspired every day by her work with artists, editors, museums and galleries worldwide.
Carolina Wood started as a digital publishing intern with Art Media Holdings in February 2017, where she assisted the digital team with various projects including the launch of the digital Guide. That fall, Wood continued to expand her growing digital skill set as a photo editing intern at Bravo TV.
Following an editorial internship at Reductress, a satirical women’s online publication, Wood returned to her part-time digital role at Art Media Holdings in 2018. After graduating with a BA from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study in January 2019, she was hired as the listings coordinator for the Art in America Guide to Museums, Galleries and Artists. 2019 marks her third year working on the Guide.
