Talk | New Old: Designing for our Future Selves
February 7, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeIn Conversation: Jeremy Myerson, Helen Hamlyn Professor of Design Royal College of Art with Pattie Moore, designer, and author of “Disguised a True Story”
February 7, 5 – 7 PM
Room 213 adjacent to the gallery
“New Old” curator Jeremy Myerson will discuss design for older adults with Pattie Moore. Moore has been engaged with issues of aging since 1979, when as a 26-year-old industrial designer working at the Raymond Loewy studio, she embarked on a daring piece of social research taking to the streets of America, aged with make-up to look like an 85-year-old to discover for herself the realities of growing old.
NEW OLD is a touring exhibition from the Design Museum, London, in partnership with the Helen Hamlyn Trust. NEW OLD is sponsored by The Achelis & Bodman Foundation at Pratt Manhattan Gallery.
