Mia Fonssagrives Solow – Robots/Femmebots

Findlay Galleries is pleased to present the latest work from the internationally renowned sculptor, Mia Fonssagrives Solow: Robots/Femmebots. Cast in polished bronze and aluminum, Solow’s otherworldly works explore the nature of artificial intelligence. Harkening back to original African sculptures, Solow’s femmebots and robots stand as powerful masculine, feminine and alien totems of the new age. By translating notable figures from her life into android creatures—at times imposing and powerful, at others humorous and playful—Solow imbues each of her sculptures with a name, a story, and a personality.

Ronnie Landfield 50th Anniversary Exhibition

Findlay Galleries is pleased announce Ronnie Landfield’s 50th Anniversary Exhibition, opening October 1, 2019.

Ronnie Landfield was discovered in the mid-1960s by collector and architect Philip Johnson, who purchased many of his large works, donating some to important museums and keeping others for his private collection. Landfield exhibited at the Whitney Museum’s annual exhibitions in 1967 and 1969 and at the Whitney Biennial in 1973. By the early 1970s, Landfield became a pioneer of Lyrical Abstraction, exploring landscape as a subject, incorporating color with stain painting.  In 2007, the Butler Institute of American Art mounted retrospective of his work.
